[beep. "You've reached the voicemail of Akira Kurusu! If it's about a case, please forward the information to the police! Otherwise, please leave a message after the tone."]

(OOC: inbox for texting and calling him. The voicemail sounds weirdly light and cheerful compared to how you might be used to hearing him.)

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: Odd hours of GMT/UK time
BRACKETS/PROSE: Brackets
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: I'll get back to this

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes, but he's skittish.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure! He was a Phantom Thief, and then a hitman from the age of 13. Go for it. He will hit back. In the Metaverse he has both Arsène and Satanael, at P5R endgame levels. IRL he knows how to fight.
RELATIONSHIPS: Friendships, sure. He'll be difficult as hell about it, though, and may attempt to keep people at a distance. Romance, no. He's very taken.
-important note for the above: he's spent the past three to four years since being taken in by Shido purposefully isolated. He'd reach out, and actual connection would be denied one way or another. He has a weakness to ice in the metaverse (ice-olation, ha) and he's still recovering from getting memories of being someone with a lot more friends and knowing how to form more than surface-deep bonds.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: There are no barriers to reading his mind, but anyone going in will be able to feel his general mood, and/or his thoughts about his original timeline that he may not want to talk about.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: He's a P5 Persona user, with all that comes with it, and technically a Wildcard. He only has Arsène and Satanael, however.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Physically fit. He probably has scars on him due to his time in the Metaverse.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: He's okay talking about various things, but will become upset at: Shido, Maruki, Yaldabaoth, Okumura. The Phantom Thieves will also be this to a lesser extent, as he remembers them being his friends in his past life, and they are not at all in the new one. Akira may become triggered if one brings up his past as a "Canon Akira" because of how his new past was traumatising (child hitman, parents who never noticed his double life/encouraged the Detective Prince as they thought he enjoyed the fame (he did not).
He has PTSD/hypervigilance and although he tries not to, sharp/sudden movements may make him react violently on reflex.

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: Sure!
THREADHOPPING: Please ask first.
FOURTHWALLING: No thanks.
NOT INTERESTED IN: Anyone to play his Akechi/try to romance him. He'll see canon versions of Akechi and the PT as "basically the past versions of his" but not actually his, but that's on him.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Looks exactly as if you took Akira Kurusu and put him in Goro Akechi's canon uniform. Carries a leather briefcase with him.
AURAL: His accent is more Tokyo than a canon Akira, as he's lived there all or most of his life, instead of having been out in the country.
OLFACTORY: He smells more or less just of clean laundry etc.
DEMEANOUR: Akira tends to hang back, be quiet, and unintentionally rather intense. His personality as the Detective Prince was similar to Akechi's, however also leaned somewhat on Columbo, obfuscating how intelligent he was in order to let the suspect lower their guard. Currently, he's dealing with the aftermath of remembering having been a much better person, along with that the people who were his friends in that life no longer are, which leads to him being rather more distant with anyone other than his Akechi.

Akira generally looks mostly indistinguishable from other Akiras, except for the glaringly obvious change in school. He's wearing Akechi's school uniform, and the briefcase is even the same (A. for Akira; A for Arsène). His sense of fashion when going out casually tends to be pretty similar as well, except that his clothes are all very high-end.

In the Metaverse, he is Joker. In Sae's palace, he looked and acted much like canon Joker, except that he was following Crow's lead, instead of the other way around. In fact, very rarely will anyone see him in his Black Mask form; even on Shido's ship and beyond he stuck in the Joker attire most of the time. He... really doesn't like the other outfit.

The other outfit looks much like Akechi's beta Black Mask design, except instead of the mask being a smiling face, it's a bandana, making the entire ensemble resemble a highwayman who's on hard times rather than a dashing gentleman thief. The distinction is small, but to him it's massive. When someone sees him coming dressed like that, it's "stand and deliver, your money or your life" and there are rarely any in-betweens. They'll also hear him coming before they ever see him; hidden under that cloak, attached to his clothes and shoes, are various chains that make him sound eerily like the Reaper when he moves. Part of that might well be because he associates himself with death, and this costume is a symbol more of how he's being debased into a common thief and assassin than the rebellious spy that he wanted to be.

It goes like this. Kid gets himself arrested for doing the right thing. Kid gets sent off to Tokyo. Kid gets to be a Phantom Thief, gets a cool detective rival (who turns out to be a murderer to, but shh), and winds up killing god. And then just as he's trying to fix reality back to normal, and it should be going back to normal...

It's better if Akechi takes over from here.

So, it goes like this. Orphan kid gets aged out of the system, finds his shitty dad, accidentally becomes a hitman for two and a half odd years (shh, it's fine), starts investigating these Phantom Thieves that're a threat to his plan, gets a rival (because what else do you call someone you're opposed to, yet you care about?) and then dies. Then he wakes up again, fights to make reality go back to normal, and die again, only-

Goro Akechi wakes up on a train to Tokyo, with no idea why he's there or what he's doing or why it's a year ago. He investigates. He finds out that he's basically taken Akira's place. He still expects to run into an Akira who knows what's going on, just like in January. He doesn't; Akira's as though he's always lived in this world. Akechi carries on, taking this whole "confidant" thing a bit more seriously now he knows he can't just pawn it off to someone else. He manages until November, pretty much, at which point-

Well. At that point, in the interrogation room, holding his gun to Akechi's head (because Akechi kept messing things up in his telling; it was the drugs, and the fact that he was mixing his accounts up) that Akira remembers. First in a sort of disoriented way. Then bit by bit. And then all at once.

He isn't the Joker everyone used to know anymore, even if Crow gave that codename back to him in Sae's palace. Akira has to (re)-adjust to being himself again, as well as the himself he is now.

As Akechi and the others are fighting in Shido's palace, Akira doesn't fight them, but he and Akechi do end up fighting (brawling) a few days later in Mementos, letting all of their repressed feelings about their situations out on each other. After Shido's taken down, Akira's not the one strong enough to defeat Yaldabaoth, but does help Akechi unlock the power to do so.

Maruki's reality still hits hard, with both of them being offered the ability to just.. go back to a golden halcyon time that never truly existed. Akira wants Leblanc back, and all of his friends. Akechi wants all of the few ties he made. They refuse, though, and Akechi, after they've fought Maruki, is actually okay with finding himself in jail - after all, it's where he was going to end up if he hadn't died the first time around. It doesn't stick, though - and when he gets picked up and goes home, Akira's right there waiting for him with the others.

Akira, being 17, still needs to take his last year of school, and because his parents have money and connections in this timeline and Akira's "crimes" are easily ignored and swept under the rug since he's a celebrity, they're more than happy to keep him going to the same one in spite of everything.

--

In the timeline where Akira became the Black Mask, his parents moved closer to Tokyo and Shido than out to the countryside when he was around 13-14, and he snuck off during one of the parties they'd taken him along to. He was "accidentally" taken into the Metaverse, and caught by Shadow Shido, who triggered his first awakening as Arsène, the Phantom Thief who would uncover all of his dirty secrets. Unfortunately, that dream wasn't to last since once he re-emerged into reality the real Shido would find him, and when the kid Akira was thought it was a good idea to threaten him with what he knew... Shido entrapped him, making him unable from then on to form real bonds with other people for fear that if he did, then their lives would be ruined somehow, which leads into the isolated 16 year old Detective hitman the NG+ PT leader Akechi finds him to be.
